ETP Sludge Digestion Capacity Upgrade

Tankweld was subcontracted to deliver this part of the project, which involved the fabrication and installation of free-issued mechanical equipment such as pumps, valves and specialist process machinery, along with the fabrication and installation of associated structures, stainless steel piping and pipe supports.

About the Project

The project was a combination of green-field and brown-field works. Green-field works consisted of fitting out of a recuperative sludge thickening facility complete with chemical mixing and dosing and a digested sludge pumping station.

Tankweld also successfully de-commissioned long sections of tightly constrained piping winding through underground tunnels. We fabricated and installed new stainless steel piping, connecting the new facility to the existing pipework.

Project Challenges

Installation and fit up of this new piping within the already crowded pipe racks of the underground tunnels provided an opportunity for Tankweld to demonstrate its capabilities to tackle difficult piping routes, providing flexible technical solutions, drafting and practical experience from design concept through to installation and testing. Tankweld also installed sections of uPVC above-ground piping as part of the same project.

This project illustrates Tankweld’s expertise across multiple platforms, such as Project Planning, Engineering Design, Workshop fabrication and on-site installation.
